Meet the Team

  • Justin Wright

    CEO and Founder
    National Helice Sporting Complex

As someone raised in Wichita County, my passion for shotgun sports began at the age of 14, when I started loading trap houses and learning from incredible mentors.

These experiences ignited a lifelong love for the sport, which I’ve since passed on to my children, building a tradition of outdoor fun, competition, and family connection.

Guided by the wisdom my father shared—“You can spend time hunting with your kids, or you can spend time hunting your kids”—I’m deeply committed to providing the same mentorship and opportunities that shaped my life.

National Helice Sporting Complex is my way of giving back to the community that instilled in me a passion for this sport and all its disciplines

  • Sonny Cook

    President
    National Helice Sporting Complex

Sonny's passion for shooting began at a young age, with his early introduction to the sport through hunting. Growing up surrounded by the traditions of the outdoors, he quickly developed a deep interest in shooting. In the early 2000s, Sonny transitioned to becoming a hunting guide, working for several high-fence ranches in Texas. Over time, his dedication and expertise earned him the role of ranch manager at RMC Ranch, where he further honed his shooting skills in a professional capacity.

In 2014, Sonny's journey into competitive shooting sports began when he was introduced to the world of trap shooting through the Iowa Park Trap Club. His natural talent and enthusiasm led him to become deeply involved in the trap shooting scene, where he traveled extensively to compete and refine his craft. By 2015, Sonny took on the responsibility of running the Iowa Park Trap Club’s registered shoots, solidifying his place in the competitive shooting community. Today, he proudly serves as the President of the Iowa Park Trap Club, which hosts the largest ATA Texas Zone shoot every year—a testament to his leadership and commitment to the sport.

Through his work with the Iowa Park Trap Club and his connections with key figures like Bob Johnson, Sonny was introduced to Justin Wright, who hosted a yearly dove shoot at the club. In September 2021, Justin introduced Sonny to a new shooting discipline—Helice. After that weekend, Sonny was hooked, and he spent the next few months learning everything he could about the sport.

By early 2022, Sonny, along with his daughter Victoria, established North Texas Helice and began hosting their own Helice shoots. Their hard work paid off in June 2022 when North Texas Helice began hosting sanctioned Helice shoots at the Iowa Park Trap Club, drawing participants and recognition within the shooting community.

As of 2024, Sonny and Victoria not only hosted three sanctioned Helice shoots but also traveled across the region to support and assist other Helice clubs with their own sanctioned events. Sonny’s growth in the shooting sports world has been fueled by his passion for the sport, his dedication to growing the Helice community, and his unwavering commitment to sharing his knowledge with others.

Sonny currently serves as the President of the National Helice Sporting Complex, where he oversees the day-to-day operations and the ongoing development of the facility. While the complex is open and operational, it is still in the process of being fully completed. Sonny plays a key role in guiding its growth, ensuring that the complex becomes a premier venue for both Helice shooting and Sporting Clays events.

In addition to managing the development of the complex, Sonny is responsible for organizing and running both Helice and Sporting Clays events at the facility, fostering a welcoming and competitive environment for shooters of all skill levels. He aims to build on the success of North Texas Helice, expanding its reach and influence within the shooting sports community.

Sonny’s vision for the complex is to make it a central hub for Helice and Sporting Clays in the U.S., offering top-tier facilities and serving as a platform for the continued growth and development of these shooting sports. Through his leadership, he strives to create a premier destination for shooters, with an emphasis on excellence, safety, and community engagement.

  • Victoria Wilkinson

    Office Manager

Victoria's introduction to shooting began at an early age, spending weekends in the deer stand with her dad. These moments were often shared with her sister and best friends, creating lasting memories.

In 2016, Sonny brought Victoria into the world of competitive shooting by involving her in the Iowa Park Trap Club. Her initial role was to help make the registered trap shoots more efficient by utilizing online systems. Victoria’s tech-savvy approach brought a new level of organization and efficiency to the club's operations, streamlining the process and ensuring smoother execution of the events. Over the years, Victoria has continued to expand her knowledge and expertise, using multiple online programs to further improve the efficiency and overall experience of trap shoots at the Iowa Park Trap Club. Her dedication and innovation have made her an integral part of the club’s success in managing its shoots.

As her expertise grew, Victoria's involvement expanded beyond the Iowa Park Trap Club. Her dedication and innovative approach caught the attention of the Oklahoma Trap and Skeet Association, who invited her to assist with managing their larger shoots. Victoria soon took on the responsibility of running the yearly Oklahoma State Trap Shoot and overseeing a satellite location for the Southwest Zone, solidifying her reputation as a reliable and capable organizer in the competitive Texas/Oklahoma trapshooting community.

In 2022, Victoria's journey took another turn when Sonny brought her on board at North Texas Helice. Drawing from her vast knowledge of trap shooting, she helped create a well-organized and efficient operations system within the clubhouse for Helice shoots, while Sonny focused on managing the outside elements of the competition. Her organizational skills were quickly noticed, and she was soon helping other Helice clubs run their events smoothly and efficiently.

Victoria's passion for the sport, combined with her ability to innovate and improve operations, has contributed to the success and growth of each organization she has worked with in the world of competitive shooting.

Victoria currently serves as the Office Manager for the National Helice Sporting Complex, overseeing the day-to-day operations behind the scenes in tandem with our President, Sonny. She handles all office-related tasks, manages the indoor operations for Helice shoots, and coordinates sporting clay shoots. Additionally, if you are interested in renting the facilities or hosting a private event, Victoria is your primary point of contact.
